The I-5 Lid project seeks to reconnect neighborhoods in Downtown Seattle by constructing a “lid” over the interstate. This initiative, which began as a grassroots effort in 2015, aims to create new public spaces, strengthen community connections, and provide opportunities for housing and development.
We are currently seeking a consultant to help lead the charge on engagement based on these tasks:
- Form and support a community advisory group.
- Engage with impacted neighborhoods and the broader public.
- Update and expand the feasibility study.
- Develop a shared community vision and urban design plan.
This person is anticipated to begin work early 2026, with a completion date in late 2027.
