Equitable Development Initiative 2024 Request for Proposals Now Open!

Apply here: https://www.seattle.gov/opcd/current-projects/equitable-development-initiative.

The Equitable Development Initiative (EDI) Request for Proposals (RFP) is an opportunity for Community-based organizations working in Seattle on anti-displacement strategies, responding to creating new economic opportunities, improving educational outcomes, and other forms of community development.

The EDI 2024 Program and Status Report showed that current grantees are working diligently to develop projects and become operational and that escalating costs and longer permitting and construction timelines have created funding gaps. If filled, nearly 50% of current grantees could reach completion by 2026. The EDI board recommended that the current RFP focus on closing funding gaps to move active projects into the next phase of development or operations.

The 2024 EDI funding round is available to current EDI grantee organizations with active anti-displacement projects. Funding will be prioritized for projects that anticipate moving to the next phase of development, particularly those with acceleration towards a completed project that will begin operation and enter the annual service provision and reporting period within two years of receipt of funding. All EDI grantees are advancing projects in high displacement risk neighborhoods, with a continued emphasis on serving BIPOC communities that have been targeted by systemic and institutional racism. 2024 funding may be used to support organizational capacity building, property acquisition, and capital expenses consistent with an active project and within the scope of the original application.

We anticipate a 2025 EDI RFP will be open to new applicants as well as to current grantees.

Grantees may, but are not required to, attend an information session or work with their project manager to answer RFP questions. Any questions must be submitted by November 4th and responses will be posted on the EDI website on November 7th.
